CA Sculptors Symposium
April 22-29, 2012
Welcome to our 10th Annual California Sculptors Symposium!
We are celebrating our 10 years at Camp Ocean Pines, where we have enjoyed a high level of sculpting, fun and friendships. We present you a broad range of workshops and instructors. We will have a life model every afternoon, plus Karen Cope will be available in the mornings for individual help in the clay studio. For beginners, Stephanie will be with you all week to help you in all levels of stone carving. John Thompson will offer 3 sessions for wood carving, a first for our symposium. Please check out the details of the program on the schedule and on the instructor panel of the brochure. Check out the websites for our instructors, and visit our website for more information and history of CSS.
Camp Ocean Pines has comfy bunk style cabins that have on-demand hot water and all comfort facilities. There is plenty of space for tents and a few spots for small RVs, but no hookups. The camp’s chef serves 3 delicious meals, buffet style, each day.
We will have an air compressor and generator and plenty of space for power tooling and a separate area for hand tooling.
The special highlight of our 2012 program will be the continuation of the 3 year monumental sculpture project, led by John Fisher. This was started in 2011, and will be completed in 2013. The 2.5 ton block of Italian marble was hand picked by John in November 2010, and shipped to the USA, then transported to Cambria by Art City Stone Supply. This impressive John Fisher figurative sculpture will be offered for sale or auction in 2013.
We look forward to seeing you at our 10th symposium !!
