We will soon be taking sign-ups for Summer Camp 2009!
Camp Ocean Pines in Cambria has a long history of providing excellent summer camps! Week-long overnight camps are designed to strengthen your child's creative talents, open their eyes to exciting discoveries and foster new friendships. Our resident camp is a perfect blend of nature and adventure for students from 8-15 years old. Students may sign up for a one-week session or multiple weeks. For Summer 200, we have exciting off-site sessions: the Big Sur Campout and the Morro Bay State Park Campout.
Summer Camp
A classic week-long residential summer camp experience is an important part of being a kid! Camp Ocean Pines campers will have the opportunity to explore some of America's most unspoiled beaches, as well as ocean life on California's Central Coast.
"Ocean Adventures" is the theme at camp where kids connect to nature, the ocean, the arts, make new friends and explore new places. This resident camp is a perfect blend of nature and adventure for kids age 8 to 15. We have great counselors with a low student-staff ratio to insure safety and personal attention. Camp Ocean Pines is accredited by the American Camp Association (ACA), and our staff includes lifeguards, snorkel instructors, and Emergency Medical Technicians.
Does your child love the ocean? Ocean Adventures campers will be:
- Kayaking in Morro Bay
- Tide pooling in Cambria
- Body boarding in Cayucos
- Swimming at San Simeon Cove
- Jade hunting and hiking in Big Sur
Along with great ocean-based activities, students can make different arts and crafts and have the chance to participate in many other traditional camp activities.
Week 2 is the Big Sur Campout! Campers will sleep in the redwoods, hike the hidden creeks, and camp out under the stars. They will likely see the endangered California condor and the steller sea lion. Everyone will make a necklace from stones they find at Jade Cove!
The Morro Bay State Park Campout (Week 4) is a new addition to Summer Camp 2008. This week of off-site adventure will include beach activities, horseback riding, hiking, kayaking and more!
Too old for camp but still love it? Teens age 16-17 can apply for Junior Counselor position. Learn the leadership skills it takes to become an experienced summer camp couselor. For more information contact the camp office at 805-927-0254.
Accomodations
Kids bunk in new cabins made with strawbale construction! The cabins are located in a beautiful forested site overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Each cabin has a bathroom inside and sleeps 8 campers and 2 counselors. Excellent meals are served in the historic ocean-view dining lodge.
Staffing/Accreditation
Camp Ocean Pines is accredited by the American Camp Association, and we maintain a low (1:4) staff-to-camper ratio. Leadership is provided by Martha Barbee, the Program Director. Our Summer Camp staff is experienced, highly-trained, and a fun and caring group!

Camps begin each Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. and end at 1 p.m. Friday afternoon. Sessions can be repeated - same subject, different activities!
