Potter and naturalist Patricia Griffin invites you to come play with clay in this lively workshop for all levels – from curious beginner to experienced potter. You’ll learn hand-building techniques and make your own forms. Then we'll practice ways to decorate through etching, stenciling, and embossing on pots that Patricia provides. We'll use the great outdoors for inspiration and collect leaves and other natural elements to use on the surface. You do not need drawing experience or pottery skills, and all materials and supplies are provided. After the workshop, Patricia will fire your pieces and have them for pick-up or will ship. Note: If you’re an experienced potter/artist, you’ll be able to dive deeper into the techniques and learn variations.
A little bit about Patricia,
“I've been a full-time artist since 2007, and am so grateful for the Studio Friends and collectors who have encouraged and supported my work through the years.
Seems like I've always had ink or clay on my hands. I grew up in my family's newspaper and printing business in the small town of King City, Ca. Getting out the weekly paper on Wednesday nights was a family affair. Creativity was the norm: My grandmother was an artist and writer, my dad was a writer and all of my siblings grew up to be musicians, writers, printers and makers.
I pursued a career in marketing and design and managed a full-service agency prior to finding clay. It happened while taking a drawing class at a community college when I wandered into the campus clay studio – and found a whole new world. I've been exploring its various paths ever since. After exhausting the local clay scene, I took intensive seminars and workshops at Arrowmont School of Art and Craft in Tennessee, Sierra Nevada College in Nevada and Mendocino Art Center in California.”
