Enrollment FAQ

  • Main Camp-Sessions 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. This program is for all kids, ages 7-16! This is our traditional camp options, with session lengths that are either 6 or 13 days and include all of our amazing off-site trips and on-site activity options. Designed for kids who want to try a little bit of everything, make lots of new friends, and have amazing adventures!

Mini Week. This is a shorter program option for youth in Kindergarten-4th grade (ages 5-10). It’s designed for kids who are looking for a shorter camp experience, whether it’s their first time or that is their preference. During this program, we cap the age limit at 10, so there are no big kids taking over the hammocks or the ga-ga pit. We adjust the schedule to be designed specifically for this age group, and up the counselor ratio in the cabins to 2-3 counselors per cabin group.

California Coastal Adventures (during Session 3). Designed for youth ages 13-15, this is a limited teen program for those who want to stay at camp, but add more adventure into their stay. The teens in this session will become a close-knit group as they go on daily trips to take a surfing lesson, sea-kayak, zipline, go on an overnight camping trip, and more! The teens will stay in our rustic camp yurts and have access to nearby bathrooms and showers. This program is a great step up from Main Camp before going on an offsite teen adventure trip.

Highway 1 Teen Adventure Trip (during Session 4). An option for teens ages 14-17, this trip is full on road trip! Teens will arrive to camp on Sunday and meet their staff and fellow travelers, set up camp overnight on Sunday, then head out Monday morning for an ultimate road trip. They’ll make stops in Monterey, Santa Cruz, San Francisco, the Redwoods, and more!

  • Your camper will enjoy an enclosed cabin shared with 7-8 other campers and 1-2 camp staff. Each cabin has 10 bunk beds and a private toilet and shower. Every day campers get three delicious meals and two snacks. We offer over 50 different activities ranging from tie-dye and archery to kayaking and beach days.

Tuition also covers the logistics of camp. This ranges from transportation to off-site activities, program supplies and helping pay our hard-working camp staff.

Camp Ocean Pines is a year-round operation that works hard to ensure a safe environment for your camper. We are an American Camping Associated accredited camp, our Directors are continually attending professional development events and our facilities staff works hard to maintain our beautiful site!

  • Every registration requires a $250 non-refundable deposit to hold your camper's spot.

Between the time of your registration and the full payment date (5/15/24), families can cancel their session and receive a full refund beyond their non-refundable deposit. After the final payment, there are no refunds.

For your protection, Camp has vetted multiple travel insurance companies and spoke with other camp professionals to choose the best option for our families. You can now buy travel insurance through TripMate to protect your camper's tuition this summer. This would ensure you would receive a refund if your camper could not come to camp because of a variety of reasons such as medical emergencies, travel delays, illness (including Covid) or emergencies in the family (reasons covered detailed in insurance plans). This is not a requirement to attend Camp.

We also want to acknowledge that this will not cover if camp cancels camp due to a Covid-19 outbreak. Camp is working hard during the summer off-season to put in place more infrastructure and staffing to ensure we can properly respond to these events if they arise. As we approach summer, we will have more details regarding the steps we will take to mitigate the spread of Covid-19 this upcoming season.

Our goal is to always operate a safe and healthy summer camp. Camp Ocean Pines reserves the right to cancel any camp session due to low enrollment, change camper numbers, session numbers, etc. based on health guidelines and camp safety. Camp will reach out individually to families in case of this event as these scenarios are often unique.

  • If the spot you are looking for is full, you will automatically be added to our waitlist when you submit your registration. There is no fee to be added to the waitlist. The registration system will collect payment information as part of the registration but no fee will be charged. All registrations must be approved by our Director.

Once added to the waitlist, you will be notified if a spot opens up. There will be no communication if there is movement on the list. While we are hopeful to welcome every camper, the waitlist is unpredictable.

Our staff will contact you if a spot opens up and you will have 48 hours to respond until we move to the next person on the waitlist.

  • Keeping our camp community safe and healthy is a group effort, and relies on support from parents and caregivers, staff, and campers themselves. Please do your part to send your child to camp healthy and without known exposure to Covid-19. Do not send your child to camp if they are sick, please contact the Camp Director (805) 927-0254 or summercamp@campoceanpines.org to communicate the absence.

Important notes on Covid-19 for the summer:

Vaccines: Camp Ocean Pines is not requiring campers/guests to be vaccinated for Covid-19, but strongly recommends that campers are up to date with the Covid-19 vaccine and appropriate boosters prior to the start of camp. All Camp Ocean Pines staff are required to be fully vaccinated for Covid-19.

Masks: Masks are welcome at camp, but not required by campers or staff.

Covid-19 Testing: We are no longer requiring campers to show a negative Covid-19 test before coming to camp. However, parents and caregivers should only send their child to camp if they are healthy and showing no signs of communicable diseases, such as a fever, cough, or muscle fatique.
